Dorothea Lange is a black and white photographer who strongly believed that “photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still”. This publication reflects Lange’s organic style of photography while demonstrating how dramatic her work is. I used scans of torn paper and other elements to make the book feel more textural and to represent the process of photography, choosing final photos, damages that can occur to prints, etc. and chose to contrast those with the bold red theme throughout the book.
